Elizabeth J. Apgar, 90, of Pompton Plains, passed away on April 22, 2014.
Born in NYC, Elizabeth was the daughter of Louis and Julia Hergerton. She married Joseph Apgar, Sr. in 1947 in NYC, moving to Ringwood, NJ in 1958. They settled in Pompton Plains in 1967. Betty, as she liked to be called, was a lunch aide for Hillview School for 23 years, in addition to being a homemaker for her 5 children. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel RC Church.
Betty is survived by her children, Carl Apgar, Joseph Apgar, Jr. and his wife Doreen, Corinne Lovelace and her husband Rory, Thomas Apgar and his wife Lisa, and John Apgar; her grandchildren, Christopher Apgar and his wife Jen, Daniel Apgar and his wife Jenna, Melissa Apgar and Matthew Burlew, Amanda Apgar, Brian Apgar, Danielle Apgar, Raymond Lovelace and Thomas Apgar; and her great grandchildren, Alex Apgar, Benjamin Burlew and Adilyn Marie Burlew. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Apgar, Sr.
Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 pm Monday, April 28 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. A funeral service will be held during the visitation at 6:30 pm. Interment will take place 11 am Tuesday at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown.
