Hsi-Ling Chu, of Pompton Plains, NJ, passed away on April 18, 2014; he was 90 years old.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of more than 57 years, Catherine, and his two daughters, Lisa Chu-de Seve and Doris Costenbader, as well as four loving grandchildren: Alexis, Gregory, Kyle and Kayla.
Originally from China, Hsi-Ling traveled the world as a merchant seaman and settled in New York City. He graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ with a degree in engineering. He spent more than 32 years as a mechanical and aerospace engineer at Bendix Corporation in Teterboro, NJ, and worked on the Saturn and other space programs. After Bendix/Allied Signal, he settled down to an active retirement over the past decades with his many bridge and tennis partners, and loved spending his time with his family and extended families. Before Cedar Crest, he and Catherine lived at the Four Seasons community in Wayne, NJ. Prior to that, they were homeowners in Fair Lawn, NJ, for over forty years.
Hsi-Ling will be greatly missed by his family, friends and former co-workers. A memorial service is planned for sometime in July at Cedar Crest.
