Norma Jean Thomas, age 86, of Lincoln, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at her home. She was born on November 30, 1927 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of Eugene and Wynonna Coleman.
She grew up in Kansas City moving to Idaho Springs, Colorado where she graduated from Clear Creek High School. She was united in marriage to Marvin Thoennes on May 20, 1948. They made their home in Idaho Springs for many years, moving to Kansas City in 1964 and to Lincoln in 1986. She worked several years in the Raytown School District. After she moved to Lincoln, she worked at the Lincoln Community Nursing Home in the kitchen staff for nearly fourteen years. She also is a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Lincoln.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marvin, two sisters, Mary Alice Waite and Wanda June Coleman and a half-sister, Jeanne Gasson.
She is survived by four children; Brenda Marie Baldridge, and her husband, Donald, of Springfield, Missouri, Debra Ann Neathery, and her husband, Ray, of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Michael Gene Thoennes, and his wife, Susan Fay, of Idaho Springs, Colorado and James Ernest Thoennes, of Lincoln, Missouri, nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild on the way.
Funeral Services for Norma J. Thomas will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, March 31, 2014 at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home in Lincoln, Missouri. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery in Kansas City. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Davis-Miller Funeral Home, Lincoln, MO.
