Died: March 23, 2014

Donald A. “Donnie” Bischel, 85, of 10098 161st St., Chippewa Falls, town of Anson, died Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Wissota Springs Place in Chippewa Falls surrounded by his loving family and Interim Healthcare Hospice of Western Wisconsin in Hudson.

                Don was born June 18, 1928, in Chippewa Falls, the son of Joseph and Olivia (Beiter) Bischel.

                On November 24, 1950, Don married Joan L. Russell at St. Charles Church in Chippewa Falls.

                Don was an owner of Northern Crossarm Co. Inc. and Country Jam. He was a member of St. Charles Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Goldsmith Council #974 for 62 years.

                Don is survived by three sons, Patrick (Joy) Bischel of Eau Claire, Stephen (Carol) Bischel of Green Bay and James (Nancy) Bischel of Chippewa Falls; two sisters, Lorraine Wempner of Norcross, Georgia and Marion Svoma of Eau Claire; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

                Don was preceded in death by his wife, Joan on June 12, 2009; and his parents.

                Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 28 at St. Charles Church in Chippewa Falls. The Very Rev. Ed Shuttleworth will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Chippewa Falls.

                Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 27 and until 10 a.m. Friday at the Horan Funeral Home in Chippewa Falls. The Knights of Columbus Goldsmith Council #974 will recite the rosary at 4 p.m. and there will be a Christian Vigil Service at 7 p.m. both on Thursday at the funeral home.

                In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials in Don’s name be made to the McDonell Area Catholic Schools.

                The family would like to thank Interim Healthcare Hospice of Western Wisconsin and the staff at Wissota Springs.
