Robert M. Arnott, Sr, age 84, resident of Bad Axe, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the Huron County Medical Care Facility.


He was born November 10, 1929 in Bad Axe to the late Charles and Pearl (Roberts) Arnott.


Robert served in the United States Army. He was employed by the State of Michigan for 30 years before retiring in May of 1984. He began as a welder and advanced to the position of inspection supervisor in maintaining bridges. He enjoyed playing pool, euchre, attending the Arnott reunions and playing cribbage with his children and grandchildren.


 He is survived by two sons, Charles Arnott of Bad Axe and Bryan (Gwen) Arnott of Tennessee; a daughter,  LuAnn (Edward) Blackstock of Bad Axe; a daughter in-law, Betty Arnott of Bad Axe; a brother, Don (Marilyn) Arnott of South Haven, MI and a sister in-law, Sue Arnott of Bad Axe; 9 grandchildren, Ed Jr (Tonya) Blackstock, Jason (Brandee) Blackstock, Sara Arnott, Bobbie Arnott and special friend, Perry Little, Robert M. Arnott, III, Jessie Arnott and special friend, Josh Sanchez, Kimberly Arnott and special friend, Charlie Bragg, Bryan (Amanda) Arnott, Jr and Seth Arnott; 2 step- grandchildren, David (Pattie) Bread and Carol (Mike) Bowen; 14 great-grandchildren.


 Robert was preceded in death by a son, Robert M. Arnott, II; a granddaughter, Vicki Arnott; a brother, James Arnott and a sister, Gladys Arnott.


 Funeral services will take place Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the MacAlpine Funeral Home with Mel McCracken, Layspeaker officiating.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. until time of service.
