William E. “Bill” Price, 80, Bicknell, passed away Sunday March 2, 2014 at Deaconess Hospital. William was born May 26, 1933, the son of Lemuel Alonzo “Lon” and Corlena Mae (Houghland) Price, in Oaktown. He graduated from Oaktown High School in 1951. After high school, he worked for Prestolite for 27 years, PCA, Owen Detective Agency, and drove a semi truck. He was a member of the VFW, DAV, and Oaktown Christian Church. William coached for the Oaktown youth baseball league for many years, was an outstanding basketball player at Oaktown High School, and played on a AAA fast pitch softball team. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, and IU basketball. William could be found gardening, hunting, fishing, or mushroom hunting. He was very proud of his grandchildren and their sports accomplishments. William also served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
William is survived by his sons, Tom Price of Brazil, IN, Ron Price and his wife Debbie of Robinson, IL, and Jim Price and his wife Joni of Sandborn; daughter Yvonne Rogers and her husband Doug of Bicknell; grandchildren, Amy Summers, Allison Clark, Hillary Patton, James E. Price, Kendall Rogers, and Mallory “Millie” Rogers; great-grandchildren, Brendan Clark, Tyler Clark and Keaton Mac Summers; sister, Jan Bruce of Evansville; aunt Cordie Whitfield of Boonville; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Dolly Williams, Lou Ann Scott, and Lee Cully.
The family will receive friends on Thursday March 6, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Oaktown Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Friday March 7, 2014 at 11:00 AM also at the funeral home with Pastor John Moreland officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Oaktown Cemetery.
