Grace Halteman Guntz, 66, of Harrisonburg, formerly of Pennsylvania, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 8, 2014, while residing at Sunnyside Retirement Community.
Grace was born in Harleysville, PA on October 27, 1947, and was the daughter of the late Henry and Erma Halteman Guntz. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Mennonite College and later received her Masters degree in Library Science from Villanova. She worked as a school teacher in Front Royal, VA and Lancaster, PA. She later moved to Kenya, Africa, where she was a librarian at Rosslyn Academy for 16 ½ years. Upon returning to the United States in 2007, Grace became a 4th grade teacher at Warwick River Christian School in Newport News, VA. She later moved to Harrisonburg upon retirement.
Grace is survived by one brother, Allen Guntz and wife, Mary, of White River Junction, VT; two sisters, Lois Blosser and husband, Leroy, of Newport News, VA and Janice Collins and husband, Bob, of White River Junction, VT; and several nieces and a nephew, Janelle Yoder, Kimberly Watkins, Kristina Blyer, Martha Kratz, Timothy Guntz, and Carlissa Lam. She is also survived by numerous close friends and extended family, including White Birch Estates and Sunnyside Retirement Community.
A celebration of life will be held at 2pm, Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Salford Mennonite Church, in Harleysville, PA. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 ~ 1:30pm, followed by the burial at the Salford Church Cemetery.
