Alice "Betty" Brockmann

Alice Elizabeth “Betty” Brockmann, 78, of Kinnelon, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2014 with the comfort of her family at her side.


Born in Astoria, NY, Betty was the daughter of the late William and Alice White.  She graduated from Bellevue School of Nursing New York University as a Registered Nurse in 1957 and worked as a Pediatric Emergency Nurse at Bellevue Hospital in New York City and later as an Industrial Nurse at Consolidated Edison.  She married Robert H. Brockmann, Jr. in 1960 and the couple settled in Wayne before moving to Kinnelon.  After raising her six children, Betty worked as a substitute nursing instructor at Passaic County Practical Nurse Program.  She was a member of the Kinnelon Senior Citizens Club, the Bloomingdale Golden Age Club and a lifetime member of the Bellevue Alumni Association.


Betty is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Robert; her children, Robert and his wife Patricia, William, her daughter-in-law Janet, Douglas and his wife Marian, Brenda Leardi and her husband Michael, and Ken and his wife Carmelina; and her grandchildren, Clifford Jr., Alyson, Alexa, Douglas Jr., Michael Jr., Kathaleen, Ashley, Brian, Owen, Eric, Veronica, Nicole, Frankie, Amelia and James.  She is also survived by her twin brother, Robert White.  She was predeceased by her brother, William White and her son, Clifford Brockmann.


 Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 8 pm Friday, February 14 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains.  A funeral Mass will be held 10 am Saturday, February 15 at Our Lady of the Magnificat RC Church, Kinnelon.


In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association would be greatly appreciated by her family.
