Edward Irving Hersom

Died: February 01, 2014

U.S. Veteran

1925 - 2014

Ed was born in Stockton, California and went home to The Lord on February 1, 2014, two months after his 88th birthday.

Ed proudly served as a Gunner's Mate in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1952. He was a member of VFW Karl Ross Post #16 for 50 years. Following his military service, he worked for the City of Stockton at the Memorial Civic Auditorium.

After retirement, Ed and his wife Ann loved spending spring and summer at their cabin in the mountains surrounded by their children and grandchildren. They shared long hikes, fishing, and family barbecues in the solitude of these beautiful mountains.

As the winters began to take a toll, they moved to Florida where they enjoyed shuffle boarding, picnics, barbecues, and the beach. He returned home to California and spent his last 3 years in Redding, CA surrounded by a loving family.

Ed was preceded in death, 9 months ago by his wife, Ann of 59 years.

He is survived by his children, Sharyn (Tony) Murphy-Rostron, Deborah (Hank) Matsuno, Edward (Pam) Hersom Jr., Rebecca Hersom, and Walter "Jay" Hersom; brother, William (Germaine) Hersom and numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren, as well as many other family members, loved ones, and friends.
We are truly blessed to have had Ed in our lives.

Special thanks to Lavender Hills Assisted Living, LLC staff for their exceptional care of Dad during these past 5 months. The family too wishes to thank Dr. J. Russell Mann and staff.

A private family graveside service will be at held at Stockton Rural Cemetery on February, 28, 2014 at 1:00 pm.
