Beloved school teacher and 60 year Amador County resident Juanita “Jane” M. Gillick, age 85, of Volcano, CA, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014, in Jackson. Jane was born in Wheaton, CO on December 21, 1928, a daughter of the late Lura Willa (Townsend) and Edwin Monroe.
She is survived by husband, John Gillick, Sr. of Volcano, daughters, Suzanne , and her husband, Ed Dye, of Tacoma, WA; Jeanne, and her husband, Duane Dague, of Paso Robles, CA; son, John and his wife, Kristy, of Pine Grove, CA; grandchildren, Kristopher, Rayna, Meghan, Rebbecca and Joshua.
Jane enjoyed riding motorcycles and horses, reading and music but her real love was teaching, whether in the classroom or one on one tutoring. Jane started her 43 year teaching career in the Volcano school house, transferring to the little red school house in Pine Grove, which is now an historic building. Jane would retire from her beloved position from Pine Grove Elementary.
