Fred Hubert Simmmons was born on February 17, 1929 in Van Buren County, Tennessee. He died on January 31, 2014 in Denton, Texas at the age of 84. Fred was married to Margaret Tice in 1963 and she died 2004. He then married Mavis Voncille Pennington on June 15, 2005.
He was the former owner of Simmons Air Conditioning and Heating from 1960 to 1994, Simmons Land Sales from 1981 to present, and F & D Tank, Inc. from 2005 to 2008. He served in the US Air-Force during the Korean Conflict as a Staff Sgt.
He was preceded in death by his parents Dennie and Irene Simmons; his brothers, Otis, Sherman, Junior, and James Donald; son, James Russell Simmons; daughter, Deborah Edwards; and sister, Pearl Simmons.
He is survived by his daughter, Mitzi Renee Martin and husband, David of Sanger; three sons, George A. Simmons and wife, Charlene of Green River, WY, Tyce L. Simmons and wife, Beverly of Runaway Bay, Texas, and Terry J. Simmons and wife, Rheta of Sanger; brother, James Herbert Simmons of Doyle TN; aunt, Willene Hitchcock of Doyle, TN; three granddaughters, Tessa Renee Simmons, Cody Williams, and Samantha Williams all of Sanger; grandsons, Steve Simmons of Greenwood, TX and Neal Simmons of Salt Lake City, UT; two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and David Simmons of Salt Lake City, UT.
A family visitation will be held at the Coker Funeral Home in Sanger on Tuesday evening, February 4, 2014 from 7PM to 9PM. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the First Baptist Church. A private burial will be held at the Sanger Cemetery.
