Age 82, born July 11, 1931 to Severo and Francesca Villalpando in Corona, CA, and a 53 year resident of Redlands. Benny is survived by devoted wife of 53 years, Angelina Villalpando, five sons, Gilbert, Ronnie and Bernie Villalpando, Raymond (Sarkie) and Daniel Escudero, two daughters Diana (Nick) Chavez and Lisa (Frank) Chavez, 22 loving grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren, brothers Jando and Andres (Lupe) Villalpando, and sister Nena (Severo) Casillas. He is preceded in death by siblings, Gus, Rod, Laura, Eva, Tilla, and Margarita. He enlisted in the Army in 1953 and served in the Korean War as a Med Tech. He was employed as a Civil Serviceman at Norton AFB and retired as the Warehouse Manager of Ammunitions with 33 years of service. Following his retirement he joined the Redlands U.S.D staff and filled several positions before retiring with 10 years of service. As a distinguished member of the American Legion Post #650 he was a two-term Commander, Honor Guard Member and Bartender and held several other board member positions. A dedicated fan of baseball, he coached and mentored many players with Redlands Baseball for Youth for many years, on the field and behind the backstop. He proudly watched as his children and grandchildren when they took the field. All will truly miss Ben’s fun-loving, caring and well-natured teasing.
Services will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 11am at Emmer son-Bartlett Mortuary in Redlands. Burial service will be immediately following at Hillside Memorial Cemetery in Redlands. A celebration of Benny’s life will be held at American Legion Post #650
