Dianna Caren Anderson

Born: May 31, 1939
Died: December 15, 2013

A resident of Amador County since 1972 Dianna Caren Anderson passed away in Lancaster where she was receiving cancer treatments on December 15, 2013 at the age of 74 years. Dianna was born the youngest of 8 children on May 31, 1939 to the late James Thomas and Eva Mae Moody in Jacksonville, FL.

Dianna married Otis Lee Anderson on June 2, 1954; they were married for 28 years and had 5 children. The couple moved from Covina, California to Amador County with their friends, the Campbell’s who had family here. The men moved first to find work and homes; the woman and children would arrive later. Dianna was the manager of Deer Ridge Inn, located in Pioneer for many years where she and the children lived while she ran the restaurant and inn. She later went to work at the Preston Youth Authority in Ione for many years prior to retiring from the Pine Grove Youth Camp. Before her health declined, Dianna was an avid traveler including excursions to Mexico, Hong Kong, Hawaii and many cruises. Dianna was a woman who was full of character and a love of life. She found great joy in watching all the wildlife around her house along with her other hobbies, sewing, creating wedding cakes, gardening and various crafts. In past years she was a member of the 18/30 club, brownie leader and monthly bunco player. Dianna’s vivacious nature and zest for life made for entertaining times when you were in her presence.

Dianna is survived by her daughters, Valerie Klinefelter and her husband, Ronald, Teresa Anderson, Cynthia Capasso, Pamela Oliveto and her husband, Joseph; son, Eric Anderson and his wife, Christine; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

At Dianna’s request there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 1710 Webster St., Oakland, CA 94612 or Hospice of Amador and Calaveras Counties, PO Box 595, Jackson, CA 95642.
