U.S. VeteranMargaret R. Cannon, age 94 years, of Tigerton passed away Saturday, December 21, 2013 at the Shawano Medical Center.

Margaret was born on December 16, 1919 in Tigerton to Charlie and Linda (Wendt) Cannon. After graduating from Tigerton High School she went on to Mercy School of Nursing in Oshkosh where she received her Nursing Degree. Margaret entered the US Army in 1943 and served as a nurse during WWII. She traveled and advanced over the years with the Army Nurse Corps and retired a Major in 1965.

After the military, she returned to Tigerton where she worked for some years as the Village Clerk and also as an obstetrics nurse at Tigerton Hospital. At her farm in the Town of Morris she raised beef cattle. Margaret enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and collecting rocks. She especially loved spending time with her nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Survivors include a brother, Tom (Sharlene) Cannon of Dansville, MI, a sister, Veronica Gehrman of Tigerton, and a sister, Agnes Loosen of Slinger. There are six nieces, nine nephews, many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by a sister, Ione (Eugene) Dedolph, two brothers-in-law, Jon Gehrman & Peter Loosen.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 24th at 1:00 PM at Town of Morris Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided at the cemetery by members of the American Legion Post #239 of Tigerton. Following the cemetery everyone is invited for food and fellowship at the Town of Morris club house. The Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Tigerton, assisted the family.
