U.S. VeteranLeonard "Joe" Hoffmann, age 66 years, of Tigerton passed away Monday, November 25, 2013 at Mount View Care Center, Wausau.


Leonard Martin Hoffmann was born on October 1, 1947 in Tigerton to Leonard and Genevieve (Liesch) Hoffmann. He graduated from Tigerton High School in 1965 and went on to UW Madison for general courses. After one year of college, Joe entered the US Marine Corps and served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1971. Following the military he worked for several years at FWD Corporation in Clintonville. Then Joe started with Wausau Homes, working as a carpenter for close to 40 years and retiring in 2011. He is a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Tigerton. Joe liked traveling in his younger years, deer hunting with the gun or bow, and making trips out west to go trout fishing. He also enjoyed attending many Tigerton High School sporting events, like boys or girls games, for basketball, volleyball, and baseball. Joe especially loved to play cards, like sheephead and cribbage, and spending time with his family.


Survivors include one brother, Robert Hoffmann of Elderon, and three sisters, Adeline Miller of Sussex, Elaine Erickson of Tigerton, and Mary (Ray) Ziegenhagen of Tigerton. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, John, two brothers-in-law, Zane Miller & Gary Erickson, and a good fishing buddy, Orwin Draeger.


Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 29th at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, Tigerton. Rev. Matthew Uttenreither will officiate and burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Tigerton. Military Honors will be provided by members of the American Legion Post #239 of Tigerton. Friends may call on Friday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the church. The Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Tigerton, is assisting the family.
