Dorothy R. Plaster

Dorothy R. Plaster, age 88 years, of Marion passed away on Saturday evening, November 23, 2013 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

The former Dorothy Rosella Michaelis was born on January 26, 1925 in the Town of Fairbanks, Shawano County, to the late Emil and Mary (Schaefer) Michaelis. Dorothy was united in marriage on September 1, 1943 to Harvey E. Plaster at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marion. The couple farmed for many years in the Town of Grant, retiring in 1982. Dorothy’s husband preceded her in death on November 28, 1997. In 2005 she moved from NE 3rd Street to her son Jay’s home on Mavis Rd. In 2007 Dorothy began living with her son Edward in Seymour and in 2009 they settled in Green Bay. She is a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and was active with the Ladies Aid and helped out with many funeral luncheons. Dorothy was an avid reader, and she enjoyed playing cards, especially Sheepshead. She also liked playing spider solitaire and spending time with relatives and friends.

Survivors include five sons; Arthur (Barb) Plaster of Tigerton, Terry (Gwyn) Plaster of Lawrenceville, GA, Dennis (Bev) Plaster of Sugar Bush, Edward (Darlene) Plaster of Green Bay, and Jay Plaster of Marion. There are 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. Dorothy is further survived by two sisters, Adeline “Micki” Plennes of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Irene Michaelis of Milwaukee, many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey, an infant daughter, Darlene Dawn, a great granddaughter, Desirae Lehman, two sisters, Evelyn Schroeder & Ernestine “Tina” Bosin, and six brothers, infant Leo, Walter, Otto, Elmer, Leo and Raymond Michaelis.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 27th at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marion. Rev. Bradley Dokken will officiate and burial will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery, Marion. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Marion, and on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church.
