Agnes C. (Kocher) Joice, 91, Vincennes, passed away Tuesday November 19, 2013 at The New Willow Manor. Agnes was born February 13, 1922, in Lawrence County, IL, Allison Township, the eighth child of Martin F. and Mary B. (Doll) Kocher. She married Kenneth H. Joice on July 26, 1943, and they made their life together for 44 years until his death on October 16, 1987. She worked many years at Brown Shoe Factory, Vincennes, and Central Industries in Lawrenceville. Agnes was a member of Old Cathedral Catholic Church and helped with bereavement dinners. She also was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary and American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.
Agnes is survived by her daughters, Linda Burke Doll of Vincennes, Maria Marcroft (Chuck) of Vincennes, Susette Pieper (Don) of Bicknell, and Mary Jo Hill (Dave) of Petersburg; son Kenneth Wayne Joice (Mary Yochum) of Vincennes; ten grandchildren, Angie Joice Schitter (Joe) of Jasper, Joe Joice (Kristan Young) of Baltimore, MD, Erin Marcroft Leary (Richard) of Florida, Craig Marcroft of Florida, Vanessa Burke Herr (Matt) of Chandler, Carrie Grigsby Coleman (Philip) of Morristown, TN, Randy Pieper (Alicia) of Princeton,, Russell Pieper of Edwardsport, Kenneth Cleghorn of Terre Haute, Josh Cleghorn of Farmersburg; eight great-grandchildren; and one step-great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth; five brothers, Albert (Rose Steimel), Bill (Grace Land), Robert (Agnes Ruppel), Ed (Agnes Gognat), and Martin (Gert Stangle); and two sisters, Barbara Halter (Edmond) and Mary Wheatley (Louis) and two sons-in-law, Gary G. Burke and James Doll.
The family will receive friends on Friday November 22, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a vigil service at 6:30 PM at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Vincennes Chapel, 313 Church St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday November 23, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Old Cathedral Catholic Church with Rev. John Schipp officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
