A retired employee of Market Forge, he passed away Friday evening, November 15th at the Eastpointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where he had been receiving care for the past few months. He was 83 years of age. Born in Chelsea, he was the son of Edward L. and Beatrice M. (Doane) Brown. He attended local schools. In 1952, he enlisted in the US Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1954 at the rank of Sergeant. Russell worked for over 30 years at Market Forge until his retirement. He had also spent many years residing in Everett. Russell enjoyed ballroom dancing and frequent visits to Wonderland and Suffolk Downs.
He is the Beloved husband of the late Lorraine (O’Rourke) Brown.Dear brother of Thelma “Louise” Dichiara of Chelsea, Janice McCluskey of Everett, Earnest Brown of Everett, Richard Brown of Stoneham, Robert Brown of Winthrop and the late Theodore and Edward Brown. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
His funeral services will be conducted in the Frank A. Welsh & Sons Funeral Home 718 Broadway CHELSEA on Tuesday, November 19th at 11:00 A.M. Services will conclude with Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Welsh Funeral Home on Monday from 4 - 8 P.M.
