Raymond Harrison Acton, age 78, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 13, 2013. He was born on October 5, 1935, in Columbia, Missouri, the son of George “Jack” Acton and Ruby Calvin Acton.
Ray grew up in Rocheport, Missouri and graduated high school in New Franklin, Missouri. He then moved to Columbia and worked at Columbia Auto Parts for many years until his retirement in 1997. He was married to Glenda Ferrier in Columbia in April of 1985. After Ray’s retirement, they moved to Warsaw so that Ray could fish. He attended Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Ray loved his family and they were the most important thing to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Rebecca, and a brother, Monroe Acton.
He is survived by his wife Glenda, of the home, three sons, Charles Acton, and his wife Pat, of Pilot Grove, Missouri, Randy Acton, and his wife, Diane, of San Marcos, California, and Mitch Acton, of Columbia, one daughter, Rhonda Acton, also of Columbia, a step-son, Robert Bernhardt, and his wife, Deanna, of Springfield, Missouri, and step-daughter, Ann Davison, and her husband Chris, of Warsaw. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, one brother, Melvin Acton, of Columbia, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held for Ray Acton at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Saturday. Cremation will follow at Kaysinger Crematory under the direction of Reser Funeral Home.
