U.S. VeteranPEORIA - Robert A. Hadank, 95, of Peoria, passed away at 12:25 a.m., Saturday, November 9, 2013, at Kindred Hospital in Peoria.

Robert was born on November 21, 1917, in Peoria to Frank E. and Elizabeth (McLinden) Hadank. He married Mary Lucile Burns on June 14, 1941, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. She preceded him in death on April 11, 1995, in Peoria. He then married Joann Semelroth in 1999, she survives.

He is also survived by his daughter, Carol (Joseph) Volpe of Rome, IL; five grandchildren, Sean (Ketra), Christian (Donelle), David (Heidi), James (Heather), and Sue; eleven great-grandchildren; three great- great-grandchildren: and his two step-children, Julie (Jim) and Kent (Tammy).

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, one brother and one sister.

Bob was a 1953 graduate of Spalding Institute and attended Bradley University.

He was a World War II Army veteran and served in the 4th Armored Division, attaining the rank of sergeant.

He later worked as a planning analyst at Caterpillar in Mossville, retiring after 36 years.

He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights. He was also a member of the Illinois Valley Antique Auto Club, Heart of Illinois Volkswagen Club, American Legion Post #2, AMVETS National, and the Mt. Hawley Old Timer Bowlers.

Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Fr. Thomas Taylor will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11:30 on Tuesday at the church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
