Jackie Ellsworth Brown, 78, Vincennes, passed away on October 17, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Jackie was born September 19, 1935 in Vincennes, to Earl and Gertrude Brown, who preceed him in death.
Jackie married L. Jean Brown (Ross) November 4, 1955 and she preceeds him in death. Jackie then married Adah L. Ogle, in October 2008 and she survives.
Jackie had a long and distinguished career in the United States Air Force spanning 24 years. Jackie traveled the world with overseas duty assignments in the United Kingdom, South East Asia and Turkey. Jackie also had numerous stateside assignments to include Bunker Hill AFB, IN, McChord AFB, WA, McClellan AFB, CA, Cannon AFB, NM, Eglin AFB FL, Robins AFB, GA and Luke AFB AZ. After retiring from the Air Force, Jackie was employed at Johnson Controls, Vincennes retiring in 1996. Jackie also owned and operated Brown’s Appliance Repair. He was a member of Central Church of Christ and the Vincennes Moose Lodge.
Jackie is survived by his wife, Adah Brown, a daughter, Nancy O’Daniel and husband Thomas, of Peru, IN, a son, Jackie Brown of Loogootee IN, a son, Billy Brown and wife Suzanne of Auburn ME, eight grandchildren, Jackie Brown of Lawrenceville IL, Jarrod Brown of Evansville, IN, Jonathan Brown of Auburn ME, Sara Brown of Hartford, ME, Sandy Carie and husband Maurice of Vincennes, Michael Beach of Des Moines, IA, Jennifer Todderud and husband Craig of Noblesville, IN and Billy Joe Harper of Vincennes, and five great-grandchildren, Preston Braithwaite, Noah Braithwaite, Regen Braithwaite, Isabelle Braithwaite, and Nihkenzie Eagleson; and sister Joan Thompson of Vincennes. Jackie is preceeded in death by a stepson, Phillip Beach.
Jackie was a person who never met a stranger. He was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed hunting, shooting, gardening and his family. Jackie was loved by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be greatly missed and fondly remembered for generations to come. Rest in Peace husband, Dad, grandpa and great grandpa. You have touched our lives in so many positive ways. We love you and miss you.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday October 22, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Vincennes Chapel, 313 Church St. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 23, 2013 at 10:00 AM also at the funeral home with Roger Wright officiating and burial following at Memorial Park Cemetery.
