Gladys Mae Faber, 89, of 32297 Goosehill Road, Cascade, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 9:30 p.m. at Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center in Monticello, Iowa.

Friends and relatives of Gladys may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Friday, September 20, 2013 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa, where a CDA and Cascade American Legion Rosary will be held at 4:30 p.m. and a wake service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friends may also call after 9:00 a.m., Saturday at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Hopkinton, Iowa.

Services for Gladys will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 21, 2013 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Hopkinton, Iowa, with Rev. John Kramer officiating. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa.

She was born December 4, 1923 in Hopkinton, Iowa, daughter of Michael and Catherine (Besler) Gudenkauf. She received her education in the Worthington schools. On September 10, 1945 she was united in marriage to CPL Harold Faber at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Worthington, Iowa. The couple farmed in the rural Cascade area.

She was a member of St. Luke’s Parish in Hopkinton, Iowa, the Cascade Catholic Daughters of the America’s-Our Blessed Mother Court #1926 and the Cascade American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by seven children, Shirley (Milt) Porter of Monticello, IA, Jim (LuAnn) Faber of Exeter, NH, Ann (Bob) Kerper of Bernard, IA, Al (Maureen) Faber of Hopkinton, IA, Mike (Deb) Faber of Monticello, IA, Steve (Anne) Faber of Hopkinton, IA, and Dan (Sharon) Faber of Cascade, IA; 21 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and a brother, Vernon (Madonna) Gudenkauf of Dubuque, IA.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Faber on June 20, 2003; her parents; three brothers and five sisters, Clara Heims, Walter, Erma Becker, Anna Weber-Recker, Catherine Recker, Bernadette Kurt, Joe and Louis; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Mathilda Manternach, Margaret Rahe, John Faber, Esther Rosenwig, Nick and Ed Faber.

A Gladys M. Faber memorial fund has been established.
