GLENVIEW, IL - Harold Joseph Plack, Jr., 88, of Glenview, IL, formerly of Peoria, passed away peacefully at 3:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview, IL.

Harold was born on March 6, 1925, in Peoria to the late Harold J. and Louise A. (Cole) Plack. He married his beloved wife, Bettie Jean DeLong, on December 1, 1946, in Peoria. She preceded him in death on August 17, 1976. He later married Betty Graham. She also preceded him in death.

Harold was also preceded in death by his sister, Shirlee J. Rimbey; and grandson, Luke Heeman.
He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his children, Harold Joseph, III (Katha), Jim (Linda), Jill (Lloyd) Massey, Judy (Tony) Owens, Jeff (Patti), Jenny (Mark) Heeman, and Janice (the late Mark Davis) Plack. Harold also leaves his wonderful grandchildren, Jessica (Jason) Noga, Jocelyn Plack, Christopher (Lisa) Plack, Katie (Philip Nelson) Plack, Ashley Wurzel, Amanda Wurzel, Kevin (fiancée Kara Larsen) Owens, Maggie (fiancé Patrick Labombard) Owens, Laura Plack, Elaine Plack, Claire Plack, Zack Heeman, Paul Davis and Brian Davis; two great grandchildren, Jacob Plack and Ellery Noga; his brother-in-law, Robert (Donna) DeLong; six nieces and nephews; step-children, Sandy (Ted) Osman, Linda (Jack) Guthrie and Cathy (Jim) Bush and several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

Harold was a US Navy and WW II veteran serving as an officer aboard the destroyer escort “Leroy Wilson” in the Pacific theater. He was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant JG. He was also a graduate of Bradley University.

For over 55 years, Harold owned the Plack Insurance Agency in Peoria.

A private graveside service will be held at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Peoria. Wright & Salmon is in charge of arrangements.
