Jeanette A. (Meinen) Ferstenou, age 87, passed away at The Maplewood in Bloomer on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 surrounded by her family.
Jeanette was born November 14, 1925 to Louis and Mary (Riesterer) Meinen. She married Melvin Ferstenou on November 6, 1945 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Tilden. She lived on a farm in the Town of Woodmohr and later moved to Bloomer. Jeanette was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church and P.C.C.W. She worked at the Chippewa County Dairy, Chippewa Woolen Mill and Nelson Filter. In 2001, Jeanette had the privilege of being interviewed by the Chippewa Falls Museum of Industry & Technology for her experiences sewing wool shirts and jackets for the Chippewa Woolen Mill in the 1950s. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, fishing and crocheting.
Survivors include three sons, David (Doris) of Bloomer, Dennis (Bonnie) of Chippewa Falls and Daniel (Amy) of St. Paul, Minn.; two daughters, Sandra (Kay) Boklep of Champlin, Minn. and Debra (Jeff) Schwab of Hudson, Wis.; two sisters, Josephine Goettl and Bernadine Score; eight grandchildren, James (Amber) Ferstenou, Chris (Wendy) Ferstenou, Kelly (Rick) Ferguson, Melissa (Jeremy) Berg, Brian (Andrea) Braunschweig, Douglas Braunschweig, Zachary & Tyler Schwab; four great-grandchildren, Kyle and Brittany Ferguson, Kaitlyn and Christopher Culver; four step-grandchildren, Gillian and Campbell McLaren, Whitney and Taylor Dugan; and also many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 45 years, Melvin; five brothers, Gregor, Walter, John, Vernon and Roger Meinen; two sisters, Helen Faschingbauer and Emily Eder; two sisters in infancy; three brothers-in-law, Art Faschingbauer, Clifford Goettl and Earl Score; and two sisters-in-law, Elsie Meinen and Marie Meinen.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer. Father John Potaczek will be celebrant of the funeral mass. Interment will be in North Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday, May 25, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer.
