Priscilla Mai Havens, age 76, of Jackson, CA, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento. Priscilla was born in New Bedford, MA on August 28, 1936, a daughter of the late Margaret (Gregorigo) and Charles P. Mello.
At the age of 16 Priscilla’s family moved to Manteca, CA. Priscilla would attend nursing school after graduating from Manteca High School. Her life would take a serious turn in 1954 when she met the love of her life Charles "Chuck" Havens at Mayfair Packing Company in San Jose where they both worked. They would marry on Sept. 1, 1956 in Manteca, excited to begin their life together they would forego their honeymoon and buy a house instead. In 1993 they moved to Jackson, CA into the home they had built as family with their 5 children.
Priscilla always had a house full of kids in addition to her five. Hers was the house to hang out at and many called her mom. She taught her kids how to be caring and kind while practical at the same time. She was always crafting, enjoyed making all kinds of gifts for family and friends. Priscilla will be remembered by many as the associate in the fitting rooms at Wal Mart for the past 15 years.
Priscilla is survived by her Husband of 56 years Charles, and her children Mark A. Havens, and his Partner, Robert Bequette, of Fair Oaks; Margaret, and her husband, Collin Lyon, of San Jose; Marian Pestana, of Jackson; Martin Havens, of Fresno; Matt Havens, of Jackson; 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and brother, Charles J, Mello and wife Sandy of Manteca.
Friends are invited to attend the visitation Friday 6:00 PM followed by a vigil service at 7:00 PM and a mass of Christian burial on Saturday, June 1, 2013, 11:00 AM all at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Jackson.
