U.S. VeteranCraig Edward Eben, age 82, a resident of Naperville and formerly a longtime resident of Wheaton, died Monday, May 6, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on November 8, 1930 in Evanston, Illinois to Edward and Lenore Eben.

After graduating from High School, he enlisted and served in the Army as a Sergeant. He held a Masters Degree from UW Madison, preceded by a Bachelor's Degree from UW LaCrosse.

Craig worked for the Wheaton Warrenville School District 200 as a teacher and District-wide Director followed by Media Specialist at Benedictine University. He then enjoyed his retirement years with Betsey traveling the world and settling at a "snow-bird" home in Florida for the winters.

Craig was also a member of:  Wheaton Masonic Lodge, VFW, and Trinity Episcopal Church.  "Energetic Craig" was able to complete several Marathons in his late forties.  He was an astute collector of various interesting objects, inlcluding art, marbles, and southwest artifacts.

He is survived by his children, Suzanne (Thomas) Taddeucci, David Eben, and Carole (Al Lepinski) Eben; Poppa to Leigh, Alyson and Megan Taddeucci ; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law David and Jean Donkle; nephew, Steven Donkle, and niece, Mary Donkle 

Craig was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Elizabeth "Betsey" Eben, and his parents, Edward and Lenore Eben

Friends and family will be received Thursday, May 9th from 4-6 pm with a memorial service immediately following at Trinity Episcopal Church, 130 N. West St. in Wheaton with The Rev. Canon Linda Potter officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the church.
