ANASTASIA LANDIS CHASE

Born: March 16, 1948
Died: March 22, 2013

Anastasia “Joanne Landis” Chase filled each and every day with what mattered most: Prayer, precious time with family and friends, and delicious food paired with great wine. She also had an unparalleled ability to make ev- eryone feel special, and was a sincerely generous soul. After years of an admirable battle with cancer, Anastasia passed graciously into the arms of the Lord on Friday, March 22, 2013. Anastasia was the oldest child of the late John Landis, and is survived by her angelic mother, Helen Landis. She is also the sister of the late George Landis, and is survived by her younger sister Stephanie Landis and sister-in-law Adrienne Landis, along with her brother Jim Landis. Her husband of 17 years, Douglas Chase, will remember her for her caring heart and passion for life. Anastasia’s son and his wife, John and Maria Woods, will certainly cherish how she loved unconditionally, and the amount of time “Yiayia Bubbles” (grandmother) spent in the kitchen with their three daughters: Anastasia “Anisa,” Demitra “Demi,” and Eleni “Lena” Woods. Anastasia’s son, Michael, will carry on his mother’s love of living life to its fullest with no regrets. Anastasia was a stepmother to Lauren and King Gavin, and “Yiayia” to their son, Chase. To them, she will be remembered for dipping those toes in the sand and finding the perfect heart-shaped rocks. Anastasia was a “Nouna” (Godmother) to Sarah Landis, and loving “Thea” (aunt) to her nieces and nephews: Eleni and Matthew Frediani; Nicole, Stephen, and Thorsen Gustafsson; Georgie Landis, Andrea and Jasmine Assia; Alyssa Landis, and Nikko Landis. She was “Cousin” to Anastacia and Ken Royce and their two sons Nikko and Jake Royce, and Dino Julius. It is difficult to describe the close relationships that Anastasia built throughout her life. Her friendships were a critical part of her life, and filled her up with immense love! She will be deeply missed by friends, “Koumbari”, and loved ones. But we raise a glass of wine, smile, and know that our angel is enjoying the good life in Heaven. Anastasia believed the “best was yet to come,” and we know she is digging into the best that God has to offer her. Trisaigon service will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 7 pm. Funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday March 27, 2013, followed by a “Makaria” Memorial luncheon. All services will be held at the Ascension Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 4700 Lincoln Ave., Oakland. Then, join us for a special “green burial” cere- mony at Pleasant Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary at 3 pm, located at: 1700 Pleasant Hill Rd., Sebastopol, CA 95472. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Anastasia’s memory can be made to: Ascension Summer Camp, Ascension Greek Orthodox Cathedral 4700 Lincoln Ave., Oakland, CA 94602 or Sutter VNA & Hospice, 1900 Powell St. Suite 300, Emeryville, CA 94610 For further information, please contact Harry W.
