U.S. VeteranMarcus Wayne Baldwin of Goodrich age 89, died Wednesday February 27, 2013 at Genesys Hospice Care Center, Goodrich. Honoring his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Those desiring may make contributions in Marcus’s memory to Genesys Hospice or the Lapeer American Legion Post # 16. Marcus was born in Flint Michigan February 25, 1924 the son of the late: William & Alice (Nowlen) Baldwin and has resided in the area his entire life. He was joined in marriage to Betty Jean Brown on June 29, 1946 and she preceded him in death February 27, 1995. He married Dolores Sherrill-Spears on May 29, 1996 and she died April 1, 2012. Marcus was a graduate of Grand Blanc High School Class of 1943, and attended General Motors Institute. He was an avid sportsman and a life member of the Grand Blanc Huntsman Club. Marcus coached Little League Baseball during the 1950’s and 60’s, and had been involved in the Flint Olympics and the Flint CANUSA games. Answering the call of his country Marcus served in the US Army during WW II as a Buck Sergeant with the 851st Engineers, Aviators Battalion. He was a member of American Legion Post #16 of Lapeer, and Davison VFW Post #4087. He had been employed by General Motors Fisher Body I Division for over thirty years retiring in 1974. Surviving are children: Carolyn (Geoffrey) Gray, Mark (Mary Jo) Baldwin, and Janelle (Ron) Frymark. Grandchildren: Jeffrey (Mary Jo) Gray, Jennifer (Corey) Spohn, Amy (Ken) Bowers, Amanda (Dave) Zuehlke, Nicole (Ray) Clemens, Marcus G. Baldwin, Megan Mahaffy, Matthew Frymark, Chris (Kim) Abeare, Shane Abeare, Nate Abeare, and Nicholas Rykulski. Twenty-one great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
