William V. Stansky, Sr.

Born: December 10, 1927
Died: February 22, 2013

U.S. VeteranDover: William V. Stansky, Sr. passed away on Friday, February 22, 2013 at Compassionate Care Hospice/Dover General. He was 85 years of age.

He was born in Dover and lived here most of his life.

Bill was a Merchant Marine for 7 years and sailed all over the world. He also was a US Army Korean War Veteran serving in Okinawa and Korea.

He was a 35 year member of the Dover Elks, Lodge #782 B.P.O.E. He served on the Dover Planning Board for 27 years and was a former Chairman of the Locust Hill Cemetery Board. Bill was most proud of being President of the Bowlby War Memorial Committee.

Mr. Stansky was a Quality Control Inspector at Mennen Company of Morristown for 37 years.

He was an avid golfer, daring private pilot (member of AOPA), unlucky fisherman and ingenious handyman.

Pre-deceased by his grandson Alexander of MA.

Survived by his wife of 60 years, Ellen M. (nee Scully).

Richard W. and his wife Tammy of Lake Hopatcong

Grandchildren: Elizabeth and Michelle of MA

Shannon and her husband Raymond of Bangor, PA

Adam, Autumn and Madison of Lake Hopatcong

Great Grandchild: Brynn Ellen of Bangor, PA

Sister: Terry Dixon of Eden Prairie, MN

Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 4-8pm on Monday, February 25th at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton. A funeral mass will be held 10am on Tuesday at St. Mary’s Church, Wharton. Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers, donations in William’s memory to Compassionate Care Hospice, 400 W. Blackwell St., Dover, NJ 07801 will be appreciated.
