Charles "Chuck" Maibach

PEORIA – Charles E. “Chuck” Maibach, 91, of Peoria, passed away at 1:55 a.m., Sunday, February 3, 2013 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.

Chuck was born on October 1, 1921 in Peoria to William and Wihelmena (Rapp) Maibach. He married Annette Pilon on October 20, 1945 in Peoria. She survives
Also surviving are his children, Michael C. Maibach of Alexandria, VA, Vickie (Stewart) Bond of Gilberts, IL, and Christine (Roger) Kapraun of Washington, IL; his sister, Mildred Frank of Peoria; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, William G. Maibach, and two sisters, Helen Goodale and Florence Mrizek.

Chuck began his banking career at the Commercial National Bank as an outdoor messenger in 1939. In 1954, he opened the Prospect National Bank as its Chief Operating Officer. IN 1982, he retired as President and Chairman of the Board.

He was a past board member of the Peoria Jaycees, Visiting Nurses Association, Peoria Players, and St. Augustine Nursing Home. He was a charter member of the Peoria Heights Chamber of Commerce where he served as Treasurer for 25 years. He also organized the Associates of St. Augustine Manor and served as president for 5 years.

Additionally, he was active with the United Way Fund Association in Peoria and was a member of the Elks Lodge in Lehigh Acres, FL.
Chuck was a veteran of the U.S. Navy in World War II. He served 3 years aboard the USS Montpelier in the South Pacific.

He was an avid golfer both in Peoria and Florida, with leagues and with friends.

A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, February 7, 2013 at St. Philomena Catholic Church. Father David Richardson will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. An additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass at the church.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial of cremains will be at a later date at Resurrection Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to St. Patrick School in Washington, IL, the Center for the Prevention of Abuse in Peoria, or a charity of donor’s choice.
