Ruth W. Gahman

Ruth W. (Detweiler) Gahman - 83, of Perkasie, PA passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at her residence.

She was the loving wife of the late Monroe T. Gahman for 53 years. Ruth was born in Bedminster TWP, PA to the late Clayton and Alice (Wismer) Detweiler.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Ruth enjoyed music, singing and quilting. She was a regular volunteer at the Mennonite Resource Center in Harleysville and Care & Share Thrift Shoppes in Souderton. Ruth also volunteered for the SOOP program in Arizona. She liked traveling, bus tours and spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruth was a life member of Deep Run Mennonite Church East where she served as a former Sunday school teacher, VBS teacher and was part of the ladies sewing circle.

She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Bolton & husband, Ray of Kutztown, PA, Eva Yoder & husband, Kermit of Perkasie, PA; her three sons, James Gahman & wife, Darlene of Souderton, PA, Wilbur Gahman & wife, Karen of Montrose, CO, R. Duane Gahman & wife, Jennifer of Green Lane, PA; her three sisters, Ella Mae Landis of Souderton, PA, Cora Longacre of Franconia, PA, MariAn Nyce of Weatherford, OK; four brothers, Arthur Detweiler & wife, Irene of Danboro, PA, Raymond Detweiler & wife, Grace of Blooming Glen, PA, Elmer Detweiler & wife, Alice of Bedminster, PA, Chester Detweiler & wife, Janet of Lederach, PA; three sister-in-laws, Eleanor Detweiler of Pipersville, PA, Mary Emma Detweiler of Perkasie, PA, Kathryn Detweiler of Perkasie, PA; 12 Grandchildren – Brandon, Kara, Tyler, Andrea, Travis, Megan, Kyle, Lindsay, Kelsey, Taylor, Autumn & Burgundy; 9 Great-Grandchildren – Alexis, Owen, Sydney, Evan, Cooper, McKenna, Delaney, Amelia & Nora.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Lloyd, Warren, Claude and Clayton Detweiler.

Viewings will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Deep Run Mennonite Church East from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm and on Monday, February 4, 2013 at Deep Run Mennonite Church East from 10:00 – 11:00 am.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 11:00 am at Deep Run Mennonite Church East, 350 Keller's Church Road, Perkasie, Pennsylvania 18944.

Burial will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.
