Born: September 08, 1921
Died: January 15, 2013
Natividad “Nellie” Torres Aguilar, 91, of Lompoc, went home to be with the Lord on January 15, 2013. She was born on September 8, 1921 in Mexico. She immigrated to the United States with her family as an infant.
Nellie had several jobs including being a cook at the original San Martin’s restaurant in Lompoc, working at a cannery in Monterey and welding to support the United States war effort in World War Two.
Nellie married Ben Aguilar in 1943 which led to her true passion, her family. She devoted herself tirelessly to provide a loving home to her children. Nellie’s love was felt throughout the generations and within the community of Lompoc. It was not uncommon to have others call her “Grandma”. What gave her the most joy was to have people visit her home so that she could cook for them. If she met you once, you were a friend for life.
The family would like to thank Hospice, Sansum Medical Clinic and the Lompoc hospital staff for their compassionate and dedicated care of Nellie’s medical needs.
Nellie is survived by her children: Jennie Kloeden, Vivi Adamson (Gary), Benny Aguilar (Leslie), Steve Aguilar (Ida) and Robert Aguilar (Becky), her brothers, sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Ben Aguilar, son Jess Aguilar, daughter Donna Aguilar, son-in-law Ron Kloeden, grandson Ron Kloeden Jr. and great-granddaughter Amanda Aguilar.
The viewing will be Monday, January 21 from 4-8 pm at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary at 123 N. A St. Lompoc, CA. The rosary will be at 7:00 pm.
The memorial service will be Tuesday, January 22 at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Angels church at 3495 Rucker Rd. in Lompoc.
In lieu of flowers, the Aguilar family requests donations to Hospice.
