Ronald L. Turner age 78 of St. Albans died peacefully at home on November 25, 2012 surrounded by family after a long and hard fought battle with cancer. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend has gone to be with the Lord. Ron was born on August 17, 1934, in Paxton, Illinois. Ron was the son of the late Galen and Edith (Teesdale) Turner. Ron was a 1952 graduate of Paxton High School. In 1953 Ron joined the US Air Force as an electronics technician. He retired in 1975 as a Tech Sargent. Ron also worked for Superior Technical Ceramics as a kiln operator and for IBM in the maintenance department where he retired in 1996. Ron enjoyed videotaping events of family and friends, he was an avid reader, and also a Boston Red Sox fan.
Ron is survived by his wife of 35 years Alene (Brault) Turner his brother Galen and wife Suellen of Ruston Louisiana his sister Evelyn Turner and husband Jeremy Nichols of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He leaves their sons Timothy and wife Sheila of St. Albans, David and wife Linda of Highgate, Paul and wife Shirley of Highgate. Grandchildren Shawn Turner, Shannon and Scott McGillis, Timothy Turner II, and Kelly Chastenay, Heather and Denis Dagesse, Cassie and Raymond Rogers III, Tiffany and Lee Trombley, Emily Morris, Hayley and Kenneth Lawyer.
Ron is also survived by his 17 great grandchildren.
He also leaves several nieces and nephews, along with special family members Lise Brien-Bryce and family, the Gutkopt family and the Pelkey families.
He was predeceased by his parents and his beloved great granddaughter, Liberty MacKenzie Turner Lawyer. Ron will be joining his adoring pets Niki, Sheba, Abby and Sadie.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Dr. Julian Sprague, the wonderful nursing staff of the Fletcher Allen Medical Center, Kate Kasowitz and the staff of the Franklin County Home Health Agency.
Calling hours will be held at the Brady and Levesque Funeral Home in St. Albans on Wednesday November 28th from 4-7pm and funeral services will be held at Holy Angels Church in St. Albans on Thursday November 29th at 10am. Casket bearers will be Rusty Pelkey, Ron Pelkey, George Pelkey, John Menard, Lee Bryce and Roger Gutkopt. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron’s memory to Hope Lodge in Burlington or the Franklin County Human Society.
