U.S. VeteranRobert (Bob) Ellsworth Pressey, age 69, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, from heart complications after a short battle with cancer. He will be deeply and forever missed by his wife Phyllis Sjaarda, to whom he was married for nearly 27 years. He was truly her soul mate and they were rarely apart. His children, Beth and Brian Chesla, Lisa Pressey; step children, Sandra and Brian Arrasmith, Sherry and Craig Hoppen; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brother, Jack and Liz Pressey; sister-in-law, Sharon Pressey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Ednora Pressey; brother, Ken Pressey; step son, Steven Hop. Robert was born on July 19, 1943 in Grand Rapids. He graduated from Central High School followed by Grand Rapids Junior College and Aquinas College. He served his country for 4 years as a very proud Marine. He worked as an engineer for General Motors and later Diesel Technology for 32 years before retiring. He still enjoyed working part time as a shift manager at North American Fuel Systems Remanufacturing. He loved to mow grass, doing so for several years at the Glen Eagle Golf Course. Bob and Phyllis also remodeled and started the Dominie Huis Dining in 1989 and later the Noel Restaurant in Jamestown, with which he was still involved. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 A.M. at the Forest Grove Reformed Church, 1630 32nd Ave. Hudsonville, MI 49426, with Rev. Steve Simon officiating. Interment Forest Grove Cemetery. Friends may meet with the family at the VanderLaan Funeral Home on Sunday from 6 to 9 P.M. and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ebenezer Discipleship Training Center.
