Ronald Alan Hook Sr.

Ronald Alan Hook, Sr., 70, a longtime resident of Kinnelon, formerly of Kearny, died Friday, November 2, 2012.   

Born in Jersey City, Ron was the son of William and Julia Hook. Raised in Kearny, he attended the Newark College of Engineering, where he earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering.  He later also earned his Professional Engineering License, of which he was very proud.

Marrying Georgiann Dermody, the couple settled in Kinnelon 39 years ago, raising three sons. There, Ron started up MBR Construction Co., which he owned and operated until retiring 15 years ago. He also served as a volunteer fireman in Kinnelon.   

He was an incredible father, grandfather, son-in-law, brother, uncle, and father-in-law. Ron is lovingly survived by his wife of 47 years, Georgiann; his sons, Dr. Matthew Alan Hook and his wife Dr. Carol Kikkawa Hook, William Roger Hook, and Ronald Alan Hook Jr.; his grandchildren, Abigail, Charlotte, and William; and his mother-in-law, Georgianna Miles. He was predeceased by his sister, Marilyn Madden earlier this year.   

Ron will be deeply missed by all who knew him. An eternal optimist, he enriched the lives of many family and friends.  He was known for his welcoming spirit, kind heart, and incredible strength. He touched many lives.  His loss will leave a large void.

Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday, November 9, 2012 from 3-6 p.m. Cremation will be private.
