Ella E. Forrest, age 96 years, of Tigerton passed away Friday, September 14, 2012 at Pine Manor Health Care Center, Embarrass.

The former Ella Erma Hille was born June 4, 1916 in Tigerton to Max and Helen (Glaeser) Hille. She was united in marriage on October 31, 1942 to Lester J. Forrest at St. Anthony's Rectory in Tigerton. In her younger years, Ella worked at the Tigerton Sweet Shop and at Wood's Grocery Store. She was employed for 34 years at the U.S. Post Office in Tigerton, serving first as a Clerk and then as Postmaster. The couple enjoyed attending old car club events, wintering in Florida, and traveling, especially their trips to Ireland and Italy. Her husband preceded her in death on October 21, 2006. Ella was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Tigerton, and she was active with the Ladies Aide. She was a charter member of the Tigerton Historical Society and member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She will be remembered for her sociable and fun-loving nature, and for her extensive involvement and generosity with her nieces and nephews.

Survivors include a brother, Martin (Marcella) Hille of Tigerton, and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Hille of Tigerton. Ella is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lester, three brothers, Arthur (Ruth) Hille, Ervin "Cappy" Hille & Robert (Betty) Hille, a sister-in-law, Ruth Kelly, and two brothers-in-law, Arthur & William (Isabelle) Forrest.

The family wishes to thank all the nurses and staff at Pine Manor Health Care Center for the wonderful care given to Ella for so many years.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 22nd at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, Tigerton. Rev. Doug Helling will officiate and burial will be at Union Cemetery, Tigerton. Friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the church. The Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Tigerton, is assisting the family.
