Mulberry- Cecil T. Jones, 88 years old passed away August 3, 2012 of heart failure. Born in Dunedin, Florida, April 8, 1924, he joined the Sea Scouts as a young boy, and in 1941, joined the United States Navy to serve in World War II. As Chief Quarter Master, he participated in 14 major battles in the Pacific theater, and steered the battleship USS North Carolina through the Panama Canal, and the USS Teton into Tokyo Harbor after the surrender of the Japanese.
Cecil was preceded in death by his wife Peggy and his older brother Willard. He is survived by his younger brother Everitt Jones of Lakeland, his three children, Cecile, Eric and Chris, six grandchildren , six great grandchildren and close friends Ronnie and Lucinda Hall. Cecil was a retired superintendent for I.M.C. Phosphate Company.
He will be loved and missed always.
