Freda M. Brown, Peckville, died Wednesday after a courageous battle with cancer at Regional Hospital of Scranton. Her husband is John J. Brown. The couple was married on Jan. 9, 1965.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Tilden and Marjorie Walters. She was a 1959 graduate of Clarks Summit High School. Before her retirement, she worked for Tri-County Mental Health in Carbondale, as an administrative assistant. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Peckville.
She found her greatest happiness cruising the seas with her husband, John, and spending time with her daughter, Belinda, and granddaughters, Holly and Kate.
Also surviving are a daughter, Dr. Belinda Brown-Joseph, Chalfont; brother, Tilden A. Walters, Orange Beach, Ala.; and granddaughters, Holly and Kate Joseph, Chalfont.
She was also preceded in death by a step-sister, Jean Wallis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 1101 Willow St., Peckville. All those attending are asked to go directly to church.
Friends may call on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
