Dee Poulsen, age 70, passed away at home on April 21, 2012 after a year- long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Dee was born on November 27, 1941 in a small log cabin east of Rigby to Earl Poulsen and Erma Hymas Poulsen.
His siblings are Don (Phyllis) Poulsen of Seattle Washington, Linda (Gale Browning) of Green Valley Arizona and Perry (Julie) Poulsen of Rigby Idaho.
Dee grew up on a farm in Rigby and his work ethic came from his responsibilities on the farm.
Dee graduated from Rigby High School in 1960. Dee married his high school sweetheart, Saundra Hedelius in the Idaho Falls LDS temple on August 16, 1963. They have one son, Brian (1st wife Melanie, current wife, Erin) Poulsen of Meridian Idaho, a daughter, Christine (Todd Packer) of Boise Idaho and an exchange student Machi ko Yamamoto of Tokyo Japan. Dee leaves 2 granddaughters, 2 grandsons and 2 step grandsons.
Dee has been an active member of the LDS church all of his life and has served in many callings during life including Executive Secretary, Finance Clerk, Membership Clerk, Elders Quorm President and High Priest Group Leader.
Dee worked at the INL for 42 years before retiring in 2005. Most of his working career was spent working with large main-frame computers with some time spent in procurement.
Dee was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his wife Saundra, son Brian, daughter Christine, six grandchildren: Alex, Sydney, Bode, Ty, Blaine, Brendan and two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at the Rigby Idaho South stake center at 103 N, 3800 E on Saturday, April 28, 2012 with Bishop Kevin Ringel presiding.
Burial will take place at the Rigby Pioneer cemetery on highway 48 east of Rigby.
Our heartfelt appreciation goes to all the Doctors, Physician Assistants, and nurses both locally and at the Huntsman Cancer Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Additionally a special thank you goes to Janel Campbell of Aspen Home Health and Hospice for guiding and helping us along this difficult path. We have been blessed and upheld by all of the prayers and kindnesses from our dear family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 28, 2012, at the Rigby South Stake Center, 106 N. 3800 E. Rigby, with Bishop Kevin Ringle, conducting. The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, prior to services, also at the church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
