Stella M. Blaido, age 92, formerly of Northeast Minneapolis.

Passed away on March 9, 2012 after a sudden stroke.

Preceded in death by husband, Joseph; daughter, Marion (Richard) Hovdestad, sister, Helen (Andrew) Hanson; brothers, George and Edward Wandzel.

Survived by sons, Albert (Patti), Joseph (Virgelia), Louis (Barb), Richard (Candace), Edward (Vivian), Michael, and Mitchell; daughters, Carol (Orville) Midkiff, Gloria (Thomas) Bishop, Bernice (Verlyn) Hovdestad, Mary (Wayne Welle) Blaido, Catherine (David) Miller, 48 grandchildren, 94 great, 15 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Virginia (William) Hunt, Elizabeth (Boyd) Hanson; sister-in–law, Caroline Wandzel; nieces, nephews and friends.

Stella’s large family and circle of friends were the pride and joy of her life. She always made time for each of them, sharing her table which was usually set with traditional Polish fare.

Stella’s children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. She always did something to make them feel special from animal crackers to crocheting their graduation afghans. She was proud of her rich Polish traditions and passed them down to her children and grandchildren; especially for holidays, from the Polish Christmas menu of Perogi, pea soup, fish, prune and poppyseed bread, to Easter bread and blessing baskets, to making sure there was a polka song at weddings so she could dance to her favorite music. She even surprised everyone and Polka'd at her 90th birthday party.

Neighborhood mom to all “Ma”, “Grandma”, “Big Sister”, “Auntie Stella”, "Dolly", "Ma Blaido", no matter what people called her, Stella loved them all.

Her love of God and strength in prayer taught us to always work together and stay strong. So happy, so proud to always let Dad know; “Joe, look what we’ve done, we have a Beautiful Family!”
