Cecilia Viola Bimler, age 88, passed away at her home on November 1, 2011. Cecilia was born March 1, 1923 on her family’s farm in Loma, North Dakota. She was one of seventeen children. Cecilia married Robert Bimler of Munich, ND. October 29, 1946. Together they raised eight children, five boys and three girls. Cecilia was an excellent homemaker, enjoying many activities such as sewing, needlework, crocheting, arts and crafts and baking. Her pride and joy was her family who loved her dearly and by whom she will be sadly missed. During World War II, Cecilia traveled to Los Angeles, CA. and became one of the many “Rosie the Riviter’s”. Her favorite pastime was playing cards.
Cecilia is survived by sons; Dale (Patty) Great Falls, MT, Allen (Pam), Great Falls, MT, Loren (Karen) Littleton, CO, Joanne (Tom) Taylor of Missoula, MT, Janie (Bob) Weston, Brainerd, MN, and Donna (Mick) Rohling, Princeton, MN, fourteen grandchildren, ten step grandchildren, three great grandchildren, sister; Lorraine Rudow, Brainerd, and brother; Tom (Mary) Mann, Langdon ND.
Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents, fourteen brothers and sisters, her husband Robert, sons Rodney and Larry, and her grand-daughter Jessica.
A mass of Christian burial will be will be held on Tuesday November 8, 2011 at 11:00 am at St. Andrews Church in Brainerd. Friends and family may call one hour before the service. Burial will at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
