Ellsworth A. “Al” Bowser, 81, of 19 Milton Ave., died Thursday, August 4, 2011 in River Terrace Healthcare, Lancaster, after an illness. His wife of 48 years, Rita H. (Paulino) Bowser, died in 2002.
He is survived by a daughter, Marcia A., and her husband, Richard “Duke,” Moran, of Clinton; a son, Russell J. Bowser and his wife, Susan, of Methuen; a daughter-in-law, Patricia A. Bowser of Clinton; and five grandchildren: Colin, Kevin & Allison Bowser, and Daniel & Patrick Moran.
Al was born and raised in Clinton, son of Trueman and Gertrude (Estabrooks) Bowser, and was a life-long resident. He was a graduate of Clinton High School, and a US Army Veteran of the Korean War.
For 27 years, he worked for the Kelly Co., Inc of Clinton, as Plant Superintendent. He then worked for the Town of Clinton Department of Public Works, wherefrom he retired after 10 years.
A life-member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Al had served as Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing Bingo, and doing yard work, especially when it involved the use of his John Deere.
Al’s funeral will be held on Monday, August 8, 2011 from the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour at the funeral home on Monday morning, from 9:30-10:30 a.m., prior to the funeral Mass.
