Thermon Allen, son of Thomas and Helen Marie Allen was born on Tuesday, May 28, 1946 in Tunica, Mississippi.
Thermon graduated from Cregier High School in Chicago, Illinois. He continued his education and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland.
Thermon entered into holy matrimony with his childhood sweetheart, Camilla Thomas on August 5, 1975. From this union two children were born; Andrea Renee' and Anthony Trevor.
As a child, Thermon enjoyed ice skating and woodworking. Throughout his life he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and doing home improvement projects. Other interests included reading, coin collecting, creative cooking, and engaging in conversation. If his family had to collect objects that captured his essence, they would be a fishing rod, keys to his home, a camera and a TIME magazine. Thermon was admired for his hospitatily, commitment to his family and serving his country.
Thermon enlisted in the United States Air Force on August 3, 1965. He served as an Intelligence Operations Specialist. During his tenure he received special training and was awarded many medals. Some medals awarded included the Bronze Star Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. Having served faithfully and honorably, Thermon retired after 21 years. Subsequent to his retirement from the Air Foce, he worked for the Department of Army in the field of military intelligence.
Thermon made his transition from this life on Tuesday, May 10, 2011. His father, Thomas Allen and his sister, Norma Jean Allen preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Camilla, daughter, Andrea Renee', son, Anthony Trevor, mother, Helen Marie, five brothers, James, Felton, Hugh, Charles, and Tommy, eight sisters, Earline, Alma, Laura, Mae Frances, Doris, Joyce, Christine, and Irma, three brothers-in-law, Eddie, (Judy), Lamarr, and Glenn, two sisters-in-law, Sharon, and Hazel (Melvin) and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Viewing, Tuesday, May 24, 2011 from 10:00am until time of Service, 11:00am in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640. Interment, Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, Maryland.
