John Charles "Jack" Abraham, Jr. age 79, died Tuesday morning, December 21, 2010, at his home in Lincoln, Missouri. He had been in declining health for several months.

He was born in Walnut, Illinois, on July 1, 1931, the son of John C. and Bess E. Rolley Abraham. On July 3, 1960, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Lorraine Brown in Peoria, Illinois.

He was a graduate of Walnut High School and the Catepillar Machine Apprentice Program and attended Bradly University. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving from 1951 thru 1955 with the U. S. Navy.

He resided in Metamora, Illinois for many years where he served six years on the Metamora Consolidated Grade School Board. He was on the Boy Scouts Pack Committee a number of years and was a charter member of the White Cap Drifters Boat Club serving as Commodore for two terms. He was Vice-Commander of the U.S. Coast Guard Flotilla in Peoria, Illinois, for two years.

He was employed at Catepillar Tractor Co. for 32 years retiring in 1986 as Senior Development Engineer. He has authored or Co-authored several patents. After his retirement he and his wife moved to Heits Point Lutheran Church Camp near Lincoln, Missouri, where he served as the first full time Camp Director until 1988.

He resided in Warsaw, Missouri, for fourteen years serving on the board of Warsaw Fire Protection District for eight years. He, also, was on the board of the Missouri Invitational Celebrity Turkey Hunt for several years.

In 2004 he moved to Lincoln, Missouri and was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church where he served as trustee and President of the Congregation. He had served one term on the Lincoln City Council. He was a lifetime member of the Cole Camp American Legion Post #305 and a lifetime member of the Benton County Historical Society and he was a member of the Fire Fighters Association of Missouri.

Jack is survived by his wife, Lorraine, of the home, two sons, John Abraham, and his wife, Caren, of Wenatchee, Washington, Tom Abraham, and his wife, Chris, of Peoria, Illinois, and one daughter, Barbara Jones, of Aurora, Missouri. He, also, leaves three grandchildren, Matthew Jones, and his wife, Chelsea, LeAnne Jones, and Monica Jones, all of Aurora, Missouri, two great-granddaughters, one sister, Mrs. Betty Clark, of Rutland, Vermont, other relatives and many friends.

According to his wishes, he will be cremated and a Memorial Service and Inurnment will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 7, 2011, at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home in Lincoln, Missouri, with, his friend, Rev. Van Mellen officiating.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Benton County Hospice in care of the Davis-Miller Funeral Home.
