Mr. Herman Tharpe, 85, of Paris died Monday, July 28, 2014, at Paris Health Care.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Progressive Baptist Church with Rev. Andre Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
He was born May 1, 1929, in Henry County to the late Cardie Fitzgerald and Wayne Teague.
He professed a hope in Christ at an early age. He was married to the late Christine Morris on April 26, 1956. Herman worked for the City of Paris at the Sanitation Department for twenty years. He loved working in his garden and hunting in his spare time.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two step children, Linda Littleton and Alvis Littleton.
He leaves to cherish his memories a special loving companion of twenty-two years, Sue Teague who loved and cherished him; seven children, Donna Tharpe, Deborah Hutcherson, Ann Johnson and Linda and Debra Tharpe, all of Paris, Tennessee, Tammy Tyler Lyle of Trenton, Tennessee and Jackie Williams of Chicago, Illinois; one sister, Waynie Puckett of Paris, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Crystal (Derrick) Long, Taqunee Hartzfeldt, Brian Coleman, Prentice Coleman III, Renicia Williams, Michael Williams, Jr., Demetrius Tyler and Kendra Lyle; twenty-one great grandchildren, Montrez Tyler, Desmond Tyler, Carmelo Tyler, Donyah Teague, Deja Long, Chreshun Long, Arie Long, Capreece Long, Laniya Long, Drevion Hartzfeldt, Takera Hartzfeldt, Timothy Hartzfeldt, Mia Briggs, Jasmine DiSola, Zavier Goode, Isaish Goode, Shamiah Williams, Kelyn Williams, Kelsey Williams, Prentice Coleman IV and Jayla Coleman; five stepchildren, American Morris, Howard Littleton, Ray Littleton, Cornelius Littleton and Martha Appleton; five adopted children, Dorothy White, Larry Teague, Gary Teague, Emily Williams and Jessica Edwards and a host of other relatives and friends.
