Anna Dorthea (Horns) DuVall passed away on February 25, 2010 at the age of 92 at Lakeside Nursing Home in Pine City, MN. Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Morris; son, Edward; Great Grandson, Timothy Weis; brothers, Henry (Ruth) Horns; Paul (June) Horns; Brothers-In-Law, Les Bachmann and Rudy Kalb.

Anna was born on December 24, 1917. Anna was the oldest daughter of Henry & Matilda Horns. She attended the Pine City Schools. She married Morris DuVall on April 1, 1943. They lived in many different areas with their last home being in Pine City, MN. Anna was a resident of Halter Pines, Golden Horizons, and at Lakeside Medical Center in the years after Morris’ death.

Anna and Morris had farmed for many years. Anna started working out in the 1950’s. She worked at the Sportsman Café in Mora, a factory in the Twin Cities, J.T. Eat Shop and then at the Pine City Launders & Cleaners until her retirement.

Anna was a long-time member of the Pine City VFW Auxilary and a volunteer at the American Legion. Anna was also a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Pine City, MN for many years.

Anna enjoyed gardening, canning, and especially baking homemade bread. She also enjoyed listening to older country music, Old-Time Polkas & Waltzes. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo. Anna loved her family and the opportunity to be a fifth generation great-great grandmother, twice.

Anna is survived by one daughter, Doris (Jerry) Weis Sr. of Pine City, MN; three grandchildren; Gerald & Yvette Weis Jr. of Hinckley, MN, Laurie & Jerome Plessel of Pine City, MN, Bryan & Denise Weis of Grasston, MN, nine great-grandchildren, Jessica & Jake Persson, Aaron Weis, Nick Tavernier, Ashley Weis, Joshua Weis, Shanelle Dube, John Dube, and Ryan Fitzsimmons; two great-great grandchildren, Tanner Tavernier and Laken Persson; one sister, Eda (Kalb) Bachmann of Pine City, MN and many nephews, nieces and friends.

Rev. Glenn Kleppe will officiate at funeral services; 11:00 AM Tuesday (03/02/2010)at the Zion Lutheran Church in Pine City, MN.

A time of visitation and reviewal is scheduled for Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the Swanson Chapel in Pine City.
