James S. Vahlkamp, of Belleville, IL, born March 9, 1932 in Mascoutah, IL, died Saturday April 26, 2008 at his home, surrounded family. He was a retired Laborer for Local #459 in Belleville, Member of the Swansea Moose Lodge #1221 and the Forsythe, Missouri Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #5869. He enjoyed camping, boating and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Cornelius & Edmina Vahlkamp (nee Jung), grandson; “grandpa’s sunshine” Craig Biekert, sister & brother in-law: Delores & Sylvester Schanz, brother & sister in-law Adrrian & Doris Vahlkamp, brother; Sylvester Vahlkamp, and brother in-law; Eldon Fohne.
James is survived by his wife; Rosemary Vahlkamp (nee Wick) whom he married September 1, 1952 in Pocahontas, Ar. and they renewed their vows April 18, 2008, 3 children; Ronda Bennett of Forsythe, Mo., Dale & Marty Vahlkamp of Gillette, Wy., and Karen & Glenn Biekert of New Baden, Il. 1 sister; Cornelia Fohne of Godfrey, Il., 4 grandchildren; Ashley Bennett, Brandon Vahlkamp, Danea Keever and Diane Biekert. 3 great- grandchildren;Kaylee Marie Stout, Landon Keever, Leah Keever and numerous nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 27, 2008 from 4 to 8 pm at Schildknecht Funeral Home, 301 S. Lincoln Avenue, O’Fallon, IL.
Funeral service will be held Monday, April 28, 2008 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Fr. Elmar Mauer officiating.
Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, Il.
