Aubrey Dean High
(February 23, 1958 - December 20, 2012)
Mr. Aubrey D. High, age 54 of Gaston, NC, departed this life on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.
Aubrey, a son of Josephine Tabb High and the late Willie Martin High, was born February 23, 1958 in Halifax County, NC.
He received his education through the public schools of Northampton County and graduated from Gaston High School with the Class of 1978.
At an early age, he was baptized and joined Cool Spring Missionary Baptist Church.
He was employed as a journeyman with Fluor DuPont for over 30 years in Richmond, VA.
On November 21, 1987, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Doris Fleming and God blessed their union with three children.
"Deany-boy", as he was affectionately known to family, loved to cook, be outdoors, taking cruises, gardening, joking and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. One of his favorite quotes was "it'll get well before you get married and if your already married, it's not my problem!" and he had many more.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Elliott High and grandson, Rian.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Derrick High of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Talon High of Bayshore, NY and Deana High of Greensboro, NC; his grandchildren: De"Asia, Jaylan, Destiny, Tivon, Alex and De'Anna; his mother: Josephine T. High of Gaston, NC; his siblings: Sherletha H. Lewis and Lowell High of the home, Cleophus High, Sr. (Gwendolyn) of Raleigh, NC, Sherman Goodwin of Atlanta, GA, Catherine Mason (Clyde, Sr.) of Gaston, NC and Gail Ramsey (Carlton) of Bayshore, NY; very special friends: Debbie Bennett and Jeanette Wright of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Robert Ashe of Henrico, NC; several aunts and uncles; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, god-children, the Fleming Family, other relatives and many friends.
A Celebration Honoring the Life and Spirit of Aubrey Dean High will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. from the sanctuary of Cool Spring Missionary Baptist Church, Gaston, NC. Minister Melvin Ramsey will offer words of comfort.
Mr. High will be laid to rest in the Gaston Baptist Church Cemetery, Gaston, NC.
