James C. Blackburn
(September 16, 1927 - December 28, 2011)
James C. Blackburn, age 84, a resident of Belmont Village in Carol Stream and formerly a longtime resident of Schaumburg,died peacefully on Wednesday, December 28, surrounded by his wife and daughters at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. He was born September 16, 1927 in Chicago to Henry and Frances Blackburn.
Jim grew up in Chicago. During the depression he traveled with his father for work in many different states. At 17 he joined the Navy at the end of WWII. He met Jean Dallman at Jefferson Bowl. They married on August 25, 1968 and soon moved to Schaumburg. He worked for Meyer Material in DesPlaines for almost 30 years and retired in 1993.
He enjoyed bowling and fishing and was always tinkering and fixing things.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, two daughters, Jennifer Blackburn of Schaumburg, and Julie (Peter) Zibble of Geneva, two grandchildren, Ethan (6)and Callie (4), three siblings, Donald (Dottie) Blackburn, Mary Holland and Patricia DiMichele, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 31, from 11 to 1 pm at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton, where a funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m.
