George William Kostka, 67 of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, July 05, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – GT, Columbus, MS.

Visitation for Mr. Kostka will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2011 from 5 – 8 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 4 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Memorial Gardens with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.

Mr. Kostka was born July 2, 1944 in Mobile, AL to the late Bill Kostka and Helen P. Kostka Nichols. He was a resident of Columbus, MS for the past 23 years having moved from Reform, AL. Mr. Kostka retired in 2005 from Weyerhaeuser with 22 years of service. He was active in ThunderHeart Prison Ministries, Servant Riders of Alabama Prison Ministry, a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, President of Golden Triangle Chapter of Christian Motorcyclist Association, member of the Honor Guard and a Ham radio operator. He was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Columbus, MS.

Mr. Kostka is survived by his spouse, Sherry Caves Kostka; sons, Paul B. (Karen) Kostka, Coker, AL; Brian (Kathleen) Kostka, Reform, AL; Ritchie Miller, Washington, DC; daughter, Jana Miller, Laurel, MS; sister, Suzy Kostka, Perris, CA; brother Ricky Kostka, Grand Rapids, MN; five grandchildren and step-mother, Shirley Kostka, Grand Rapids, MN.

Pallbearers will be Dave Harper, Mac Martin, Scott Norman, Jerry Lane, Rufus Beason and Kevin Hayes.
